Sifu Matt Johnson has been practicing the Ving Tsun system for over three decades and learned directly from his Sifu, the late Sifu Ip Ching in Hong Kong. Sifu Ip Ching was the youngest son of the Late Great Grandmaster Ip Man.
INSTRUCTION:
Sifu Matthew Johnson offers instruction in all aspects of Ving Tsun kung fu and self defense, including theory and principles of the art, Code of Conduct or Mo Duk. Instruction includes each of the empty hand forms, wooden dummy, knives and pole form. Students progress to the next phases of training as their skills and understanding is well enough established for them to successfully progress. There are no uniforms or “belt tests” as in other more commercially run schools.
1st form, ‘siu lim tau’
2nd form, ‘chum kiu’
3rd form, ‘biu gee’
wooden dummy form, ‘mook yan jong’
- sticking hands ‘chi sau’ practice
- the pole form, ‘luk dim boon quan’
- butterfly knives, ‘baat jam doe’
MEDITATION:
Sitting meditation is a practice that calms and focuses the mind. Meditation helps students improve their kung fu skills and reduces stress in every day life. Students who meditate regularly feel an increase in over-all well being and contentment. They also experience an increased ability to respond with patience and flexibility to life’s everyday challenges.
All instruction takes place in open classes, as well as one on one, private training, as it has been passed on directly from teacher to student for generations.
The teaching at the academy is designed to teach you the physical forms of the art and how the principle and theory may support you outside of the training hall in your everyday life, at work, home and in your community.
