The Secret To Learning Ving Tsun

Come closer… that’s right. Closer. I want to make sure you can hear me.

Are you ready?

This is very important.

… this slide show gives you a hint…

Okay… the secret to good ving tsun (or good anything for that matter, piano playing, writing, carpentry what ever) is lots and lots of diligent practice without any delusions.

What else?

More practice.

Do it 1,000 times, 2,000, 3,000 times till your ving tsun is part of you.

You may start off trying to make your kung fu look just like your teacher’s, but in the end you must make it your own, find out how it works in your body, your mind. Train and train and ask questions. Challenge your yourself, your training, your techniques.

Never give up.

See you in the school.

Biu Gee Practice

Robert training Siu Lim Tau

Robert, a student at the VTSDA manages a rigorous work and school schedule but always makes time to train his ving tsun. He came in the other night on a break from his pre-graduation grind to train the forms including this very nice work on Biu Gee, the third empty handed form of ving tsun.

He’s clearly taken to heart the message delivered by Sifu Matt on a consistent basis…that is, if you want to have good ving tsun you gotta train; busy, tired, whatever, every single day.

Nice work Robert.

New Chi Sau and Wooden Dummy Videos

Sifu Matt Chi Sau with Rick

Robert Training on the Wooden Dummy

To get good results, you need to train a lot. Even when you don’t feel so great. These photos and video were taken right after Sifu Matt’s encounter with a wicked intestinal virus.

Make your training something you just do. Every day.

Then your ving tsun will be strong and ready if you need it.
