190 North INterviews Sifu Matt on 2nd Friday!
Demonstration Leaves Audience Saying, “Whoa”
Sifu Matt got the whole school involved in demonstrations of Ving Tsun’s practical no -nonsense self defense in front of a standing room only crowd tonight. Addressing the problem of a recent growing epidemic of violent attacks on individuals across the country, assaulted while using their cell phones, Sifu made clear that anyone can learn to use this system to keep themselves safe.
“Don’t wait until you’ve already been made a victim. Learn to defend yourself now. Learn to be more aware as you move though an urban environment now,” he said. “The VTSDA offers classes 5 days a week.”
Anyone can do to learn this. I’m here to teach you. Call us and set up your time to come and see for yourself. 773/301-6257
The segment on 190 North will air April 29th.
Stop Cell Phone Attacks with Ving Tsun
First, Pay Attention
First of all, you can stop this from happening by not walking around blindly unaware of your surroundings while chatting or texting. This kind of behavior makes you a prime target for attacks. If you notice in the video, in each assault, the victim had their complete attention on their phones and were not noticing anything about what was going on around them. For a predator, this is the same as being the lame, lone animal on the edge of the herd alone and vulnerable. Those are the animals who are attacked by bigger, fiercer animals whose only job is to hunt out their prey. Doesn’t sound too nice, does it? Maybe we should all think twice about walking around with our phones out. Sorry Apple! Put your iPhone in your pocket.
Second, Be Prepared to FIght Effectively
Dealing with sucker punches and surprise attacks is what Ving Tsun is all about. The likelihood of being attacked by a trained fighter is pretty slim. Ving Tsun is simple, effective and direct. It can stop an attacker as soon as the assault begins. Ving Tsun is easy to learn and in fairly short order, you can have the basic skills that can help keep yourself safer. Call and make your appointment today at the VTSDA. Don’t wait until you have already become a victim!
Stay safe, everyone,
Sifu Matt
Sunday Ving Tsun Training: Chi Sau Laboratory
Forms + Chi Sau = Ideal Practice Laboratory
It was only the beginning of class and already the arms were flying and the chi sau and laughs were erupting. Robert started it off by asking some questions about differences between the second and third forms and next thing you know, Sifu says,”Okay, let’s take a look in the lab.”
One of the great things about Ving Tsun is that you get to examine everything in your lab of chi sau (sticking hands) practice. Ip Man always used to say that Ving Tsun was a thinking man’s art because practicing made you smarter.
“But I thought you said, we shouldn’t think so much when we chi sau!”
Well yes, Gautam, that’s true but if you think and analyze while you do your forms then give full attention to what you’re sensing in chi sau – it all comes together. The trick is lots of training and training with concentration and focus.
On a side note, look who was in the school today…yes, that’s Theresa Bragado. Glad to have you back Theresa!
